Athens can be the main destination or a transit destination towards the Greek islands. The capital of Greece offers you many opportunities for a travel that may include holidays, cultural visits, shopping, hot nightlife and safe cruising points…
Ferries, Hydrofoils, Catamarans and other vessels are sailing on a daily basis from the port of Piraeus (the major port of the region) and there are daily ferry connections to all the Greek islands. Especially for Mykonos Islands there are more and less 3 to 4 ferries per day…
Walking the streets downtown…
Ermou Street: is the No 1 shopping street in Athens, where besides local shops you can find well known stores; it is one of the largest pedestrian streets and it is like a fair, any day of the week, with thousands of shoppers, street musicians etc.
Kolonaki: caters to upscale customers. Prestigious brands, the freshest trends in the world, all these and many more can be found here. A visit at Kolonaki, guarantees that you’ll go home a fashionista, not a fashion victim!
Kolonaki Area is one of the most important areas to visit…first you have to enjoy a cappuccino, a fredoccino, an espresso or a “Greek Frappé” at Da Capo in the main place of Kolonaki. It’s the Athens VIP’s meeting place. Then you can start your shopping at Skoufa Street, Tsakalof Street and Patriarhou Ioakim Street.
If you are an “amateur” of tea do not miss “Les Conaisseurs” you will taste all possible flavours there. In Voukourestiou Street, you will love it as you will find the most chic boutiques there: Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Cartier and Todd’s. In Kolonaki also you will find other boutiques as: “De toute facon” men clothes and “Deux Hommes.

Glyfada: On the South side of Athens, in the district called Glyfada, you can lose yourself in a variety of shops for every need and budget.
On the North side: there are Kifissia and Marousi districts, with expensive and trendy shops but unique designs in clothing, shoes and accessories.
Plaka and Monastiraki: are the most well listed areas for local souvenirs, artefacts and local goods.
The Flea Market of Athens is in Aephestou Street in Monastiraki. Here second hand shops and stalls flourish alongside shops selling new clothing, sports wear and other goods. In the same area you will find many shops selling object d'art, traditional musical instruments (such as bouzoukis and liras) and many book shops with thousands of second hand books in other languages as well as Greek.
