Athens grew to an important financial European capital. The infrastructure of Athens has been developed very fast within the last 10 years with new highways, a new airport, new metro lines, a new tram line, a new railway, huge shopping centres, stadiums and sport centres and the port of Piraeus has been developed to one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean.
The 2004 Olympic Games put the city back into one of the most important European capitals.

• Athens Airport: The new airport of Athens Eleftherios Venizelos located in Spata and is one of the best airports in Europe and is located approx. 40 minutes transfer time from the city centre using metro or bus.
• Transportation: Athens has very good transport services; the visitor can use the bus, trolley tram or the metro and of course taxi. Taxi is inexpensive and is absolutely common that passengers share a taxi to take them to their destination.
• Public: although on the streets walking hand in hand is not taking bad by the Greeks, try to avoid kissing. In Gazi area you can freely do both.
